Eligibility Requirements

In order to participate in the scholarship contest, applicants must meet the following criteria:

·         Student must be a high school senior or college student, and a legal resident of the United States

·         Student must be enrolled in school no later than September 30, 2017

·         Winner is not based on financial need

·         Applicants required to submit a video (see “Make A Video” tab on the website listed above)

·         Student must be planning on or already enrolled in one of the eligible majors listed in the Scholarship Official Rules

·         Winner of the scholarship must be living in the United States

·         All students must have earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher

·         Current JCC students must have completed at least 12 credit hours and be a full-time student

Diabetes Scholars Foundation: Deadline April 15th

The Diabetes Scholars Foundation’s college scholarship program is available to incoming freshmen with type 1 diabetes and who are US citizens or permanent residents seeking a higher education at an accredited four year university, college, technical or trade school. This scholarship recognizes students who have high academic performance, are actively involved in the diabetes community, participate in community and/or extra-curricular activities and who have demonstrated that they are successfully managing the challenges of living with diabetes. Diabetes Scholars Foundation scholarships are not based on financial need.

Requirements and Selection Process

Applicants must be dependent children of full-time employees in the financial services industry (commercial banks, investment banks, securities brokerage firms, insurance companies, fund and asset management companies, credit card and finance companies and similar businesses as determined by the Foundation). Employees must be presently employed with five years of experience OR no longer employed in this field but had ten years of experience which ended no longer than five years prior to the GAR Scholarship application closing date (which is located on the top of the application).

Students must be graduating high school seniors who are enrolling as full time first year students in pursuit of a four-year bachelor's degree at an accredited college/university in the United States.

Students must have a minimum grade point average of 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale) and rank in the top 20% of their class.

Students must demonstrate financial need.

Students must be a US citizen or legal resident.

2017 Matthew C. Graziadei Achievement Scholarship Award

Eligibility:

ALL North Carolina students with disabilities are eligible for nomination. This includes students enrolled in the Occupation Course of Study, students who will be receiving a Certificate of Graduation and students enrolled in the Future Ready Course of Study.

SELECTION CRITIERIA

Matthew Carmen Graziadei was a remarkable young man who died in January 1998 at the age of 26. He graduated from Myers Park High School in Charlotte, NC and was elected to Who’s Who in American High School Students. Matt was a student intern at the Charlotte Mint Museum and served as a Goodwill Ambassador for the Muscular Dystrophy Association both locally and statewide. He achieved President’s Honors at Central Piedmont Community College and served in Washington, DC with the US Surgeon General’s Council on Families and Disabilities. Matt also started his own business and was a contractor in facilities, engineering and computer services.

Blacks at Microsoft (BAM) Scholarship:  A company-sponsored employee network dedicated to supporting the continued growth and development of black employees at Microsoft Corporation. This year, BAM will award two US$5,000 scholarships to outstanding high-school seniors who are interested in pursuing careers in technology. The scholarships are renewable, so winners who continue to meet the criteria can receive an annual $5,000 award for up to four years.

Requirements

To be considered for a BAM Scholarship, you must:

  • Be a high-school senior of African descent (for example, African American, African, or Ethiopian).
  • Plan to attend a four-year college or university in the fall of the year following high-school graduation.

In 2016, the National FFA Organization awarded $2.2 million in scholarships designed to fit the diversity of our applicants.   Scholarships are sponsored by businesses and individuals through the National FFA Foundation and are given for a wide variety of experiences, career goals and higher education plans.

West Teaching Scholarship at Catawba College

Stephen J. Brady STOP Hunger Scholarships, funded by the Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation, recognize students who are driving awareness and mobilizing youth to be catalysts for innovative models and solutions to eliminate hunger in America. Applicants must have demonstrated ongoing commitment to their community by performing unpaid volunteer services impacting hunger in the United States within the last 12 months. Additional consideration is given to students working to fight childhood hunger. Students between the ages of five and 25 are eligible to apply. The winners receive a $5,000 scholarship, as well as a $5,000 grant made in their name to the hunger-related charity of their choice in their local community. Chi Xi Zeta Read into the Future Book Scholarship - Eligibility:  The Chi Xi Zeta Read into the Future Book Scholarship is available to any minority graduating high school senior or matriculating college student.   To receive funds, the graduating high school senior must be enrolled at their chosen college/university or community college for Fall Semester 2017.  All college students must be enrolled at their chosen college/university for the 2017-2018 academic year.   Provisions:   The Chi Xi Zeta Read into the Future Book Scholarship is a one-time awarded payment of $500 which will be awarded for full-time study for the 2017-2018 academic years.   Scholarship funds will be remitted to the selected finalists once proof of enrollment is presented to the Scholarship Chair. Application must be postmarked by November 20, 2016

MOREHEAD-CAIN SCHOLARSHIP – A full, merit-based scholarship for undergraduate study at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  Three students will be nominated by Clayton High School, but students may also self-nominate.  Prospective nominees should be a competitive applicant to UNC Chapel Hill.  Preliminary applications are available in the counseling center, and are due by Monday, September 19thNominees must submit their completed scholarship application by October 15th.

 

PARK  SCHOLARSHIP A full, merit-based scholarship for undergraduate study at North Carolina State University.  Two students will be nominated for consideration by Clayton High School, but students may also self-nominate.  Prospective nominees should be a competitive applicant to NC State. Preliminary applications are available in the counseling center, and are due Monday, September 19th. Nominees must complete their NC State application by October 15th.

 

LEVINE SCHOLARSHIP A full, merit-based scholarship for undergraduate study at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Applica

nts should possess intellectual curiosity, a demonstrated commitment to community service, and the capacity for ethical leadership. Competitive applicants should have a minimum 3.8GPA (unweighted), and score 1900-2400 combined on the SAT or 29-36 on the ACT composite. Students must be nominated for consideration by Clayton High School. Students interested in a nomination should notify Mrs. Jenks by Monday, October 10th.
